Meet Jessica Dunton
Jessica has had a love for exercise and fitness her entire life. It was always difficult to choose between sports, but she stuck with soccer the longest, playing at Keene State College while she got her degree in Exercise Science. She went on to complete her Masters at Plymouth State University in Physical and Health Education. During her graduate years, she found a new exercise passion, group fitness! She took everything from boot camps and spin classes to Pilates and step aerobics. She decided to get certified in group fitness and taught Step and Strength classes for about 3 years. In 2011, with grad school completed and a full-time health teaching job beginning, she took a step back from the group fitness world for a few years. This didn’t stop her from staying active! She was now into more competitive events such as 5 and 10k races, half marathons, the Spartan Beast, and the Reach the Beach Relay.
It wasn’t until 2014 that she got back into the group fitness world. Her and her husband had just moved to Derry and she was really missing the group fitness scene. They found a local gym and she began to take classes. Again, she took them all! However, there was one class that she couldn’t get enough of….Barre! It was quite literally love at first plie! Not long after that, Zumba also stole her heart! The instructor encouraged her to get certified, and once again, she did! She’s been teaching both Barre and Zumba since 2015 and has also acquired a certification in Piloxing Barre.
Jessica now lives in Chester with her husband Greg, dog Ellie, and new baby girl Gwen. She left her physical school to teach health education at an online school which allows her to stay home and spend more time with her family. As a family they love to go on hikes, play in the pool, have campfires and just enjoy being together. She hopes to instill her love of health and fitness in her daughter and works hard at being a role model for her.
